Greek Islands
Greece has a huge number of islands. Their number is ranging from around 1200 to 6000, depending on the minimum size to be considered an island. Most of them are located in the waters of the Aegean Sea. The islands of Greece attract millions of tourists from all over the world every year.
The largest by area Greek island is Crete. It was the cradle of the Minoan civilization, the oldest in the region. Euboea is the second largest island. It is located so closer to the Mainland Greece. Euripus Strait separating the island from the mainland is only 60 meters wide at its narrowest point.
Lesbos and Rhodes have similar sizes. These islands are located near the Turkish coast so its possible to visit them without visa for citizens of Turkey, Russia, Belarus and Ukraine. Also you can go on a visa-free cruise to the islands of Greece from Kusadasi, Cesme or even from Alanya.
